JBL Punktol Plus is a Medication to treat single-celled skin parasites in aquarium fish. These include the following in fresh water: Ichthyophthirius, Ichthyobodo (Costia), Heteropolaria, Chilodonella, Tetrahymena, Trichodina, Glossatella. In salt water: Cryptocarion, Brooklynella, Uronema. Grainy white spots on the skin, fins and gills of the fish are characteristic of the so-called white spot disease caused by Ichthyophthirius in fresh water. In saltwater, this disease is caused by Cryptocarion. The spots are larpreparation is also highly effective against the stubborn strains of Ichthyophthirius. Velvety, thin, blue-white coatings on the skin of freshwater fish are a sign of infection with the bean-shaped protozoan causing cloudiness of the skin, Costia (Ichthyobodo). A carpet-like coating in the area of the mouth, often occurring after injury or another prior infection in gourami, is caused by the bell animalcule, Heteropolaria colisarum. The following unspecific symptoms can also be observed in fish infected with the parasite mentioned above and others: Rapid breathing, rubbing on objects, clamped fins, refusal to feed, reduced mobility, apathy, dark colouring, increased production of slime
JBL Punktol Plus is not tolerated by cartilage fish (sharks and rays). Long-term damage may occur in corals and other invertebrates in salt water. Therefore, the fish should be treated separately in a quarantine basin if possible. Invertebrates in fresh water (shrimp, crabs, snails. etc.) may exhibit intolerances. As a matter of precaution, they should be excluded from the treatment. Fish without scales (loaches and catfish) and weakened fish may be sensitive to the medication. Start with half a dose and increase cautiously.
