The artificial plant is fairly hard and coarse. Through the base there comes a fairly hard and sharp spike, I assume there is some randomness to the manufacturing, so the spike could be just bad luck for me. The base is meant to be buried in substrate, so the spike might not even be an issue unless you have fish that dig a lot.
