JBL PhosEX removes phosphate from fresh and sea water. Easy to use with the practical net bag. In a normally stocked 200 l fresh water aquarium or 100 l marine water aquarium contents are sufficient for 5 - 6 months (package contents absorb 18,000 mg of phosphate) the bag is put easily between the filter media in the aquarium filter.Phosphate levels exceeding 1.0 mg/l in freshwater and 0.1 mg/l in saltwater lead to algae problems.

JBL BioNitratEX is the simplest method for reliable biological denitrification. JBL BioNitratEX consists of small beads containing nutrients for bacteria and so encourages the settlement of denitrifying bacteria which are present in large numbers in any aquarium. Th net bag around the material restricts the water flow and so ensures the correct flow velocity inside the bag. The outcome is the desired environment low in oxygen. The net bag must therefore never be exchangers and which can have a detrimental effect on plant growth, can be safely ruled out !Removes the main nutrient of algae, nitrate, off the water.

JBL NitratEX Although nitrate (NO3) is non-toxic, it stunts the growth of fish and plants and leads to the excessive growth of algae in aquariums and ponds. Nitrate is only broken down by bacteria under anaerobic (oxygen-free) conditions. These occur, for example, in the floor covering material or in the reef rock of saltwater aquariums. Every filter which operates on normal biological principles produces nitrate. The nitrate consumption of plants is often not high enough, and nitrate becomes enriched in the water, leading to an increase in algae growth.Only for freshwater aquariums.

Ammonium is considered to be the first decomposition stage in the nitrogen cycle. It consists of proteins, which are converted by heterotrophic bacteria to ammonium. In addition, fish excrete a percentage of their bodily weight into the water every day in the form of ammonium. Ammonium is non-toxic, but, with increasing pH-levels, is converted to an ever-greater degree into toxic ammonia.Only for freshwater aquariums.

Free of chemicals, but instead with natural, specially fermented and bacteria-enriched activated barley straw - JBL research leads the way. Simply place JBL BioFerm filter material in a filter material bag and then put into the filter, within a short period of time all kinds of algae will disappear in freshwater aquariums of up to 250 litres! The active ingredients of the specially fermented barley straw cause the algae to die off - even floating algae (green water)! Comparative tests have shown that the type and extent of fermentation has a decisive influence on the effectiveness of barley straw products. The barley straw must be organically grown, i.e. without the use of pesticides and artificial fertilisers. Long-term tests have shown no negative influences on fish and plants. It is believed that substances released by the straw are absorbed by the algae on contact. These substances substantially reduce the metabolic rate of the algae, decreasing the frequency at which the algae divides.Incl. Filter bag.

A pack of JBL SymecMicro contains a floss mat measuring 250 x 750 mm, which can be simply cut with scissors to the size required.
