These gaseous by-products endanger fish, marine life, and plants. Microbe-Lift Gravel & Substrate Cleaner contains natural cellulosic matter, select biological accelerators and special microbes proven effective in aquarium sludge reduction. Microbe-Lift Gravel & Substrate Cleaner will also help to clarify dirty aquarium water. Recommended for use with all Microbe-Lift bacteria and enzyme products. Microbe-Lift Gravel & Substrate Cleaner will discolor your aquarium water for 48-96 hours after application. This product is black in color and may tint your aquarium water slightly. Do not be concerned. The active ingredient is a natural product and will help clarify the water as well as digest organics in the aquarium.
Dosage Microbe-Lift Substrate Cleaner
Add 20 ml per 100 l of aqaurium water every 2 weeks until the substrate is clean. Maintenance dosage: Add 20 ml per 100 l of aquarium water once a month. -

White substrate that was going brown with Diatoms and other sludge like substances. Microb-lift turned the substrate brown and appeared to discolor the entire floor of the aquarium. 4 days later -- still as brown as can be. Disappointed.DAVID P. at 06.12.2021:

Ok this was a surprise. It really works. For 24 h the aquarium get this dark/ brown like colors but since the day after you can see the substrate looks cleaner. I had a white substrate, that was not white anymore, but in few days it get back to his original color. Suggested.Dietmar F. at 11.03.2016:
