| Free of chemicals, but instead with natural, specially fermented and bacteria-enriched activated barley straw - JBL research leads the way. Simply place JBL BioFerm filter material in a filter material bag and then put into the filter, within a short period of time all kinds of algae will disappear in freshwater aquariums of up to 250 litres! The active ingredients of the specially fermented barley straw cause the algae to die off - even floating algae (green water)! Comparative tests have shown that the type and extent of fermentation has a decisive influence on the effectiveness of barley straw products. The barley straw must be organically grown, i.e. without the use of pesticides and artificial fertilisers. Long-term tests have shown no negative influences on fish and plants. It is believed that substances released by the straw are absorbed by the algae on contact. These substances substantially reduce the metabolic rate of the algae, decreasing the frequency at which the algae divides. Incl. Filter bag. |
