The Biostar is a complete biological and mechanical filter system for aquariums up to 250 litres volume and is easily mounted as a hang on filter outside the aquarium. Its principal component is the Biorotor, a rotating sponge wheel This wheel is only partly immersed and as a result, the bacteria living on the sponge are alternately emersed and submersed. This encourages a high oxygen uptake and the filter becomes a powerful reducer of biological waste - volume to volume far more efficient than conventional trickle filters.
