Choose Seachem filter media by measured parameter and filtration goal
Seachem filter media in this category include biological media, organic-waste adsorbers, nitrate media, zeolite, phosphate and silicate removers and activated carbon. They work through different biological or adsorbing processes and are not interchangeable.
Matrix provides biological surface area, while Purigen and HyperSorb target organic compounds. de*nitrate requires suitable flow conditions, zeolite binds selected substances, PhosGuard, PhosNet and PhosBond address phosphate or silicate, and MatrixCarbon is activated carbon. Choose according to measured values and the intended filter position.
Check freshwater or marine suitability, dosage, flow and regeneration or replacement instructions. Introduce strongly adsorbing media cautiously and monitor water parameters. Persistent nutrient or pollutant problems still require investigation of their source.
