Fluval Intake Strainer Sponge AC Filter series

The Fluval Intake Strainer Sponge AC Filter series is a convenient pre-filter medium for Fluval AquaClear AC filters. The sponge is simply placed over the filter’s intake tube and traps large debris, plant debris, and algae strands before they enter the filter. This protects the pump and helps maintain a steady water flow. The pre-filter sponge is particularly useful in aquariums with small fish, fry, or shrimp. It reduces the risk of very small aquarium inhabitants being sucked into the filter inlet. At the same time, the sponge serves as a mechanical filter medium and provides additional surface area for beneficial filter bacteria.

The Fluval Pre-filter Sponge is easy to install and can be simply rinsed out during regular maintenance. It is available in two versions for different AquaClear AC filter models. Please select the appropriate version based on your existing filter model.
