The porous filter material provides a large surface area for beneficial filter bacteria, thereby supporting biological water purification in the aquarium. The bacteria that colonize the medium help break down ammonia and nitrite, contributing to stable water parameters. The complex pore system ensures that water flows evenly through the filter media. This extends the contact time between the aquarium water and the bacterial surface, which supports the biological filtration performance of the AquaClear filter. Fluval Biomax is suitable for regular maintenance and replacement of the biological filter media in the AC filter.
Fluval Biomax for AC filter series is available in versions suitable for the AC20/AC30, AC50, and AC70/AC110 models. Please select the appropriate version based on your existing AquaClear filter model. The filter media is suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums. To ensure consistently good filter performance, Fluval Biomax should be checked regularly and replaced as needed. Fluval recommends replacing the filter media approximately every 3 months for optimal results.
