ZooBest water tests allow selected aquarium water parameters to be checked. The current range includes an Aquarium Test Set as well as individual tests for carbonate hardness and nitrite. The appropriate test depends on the aquarium type, start-up phase, livestock and the specific question to be answered.

Carbonate hardness affects the buffering of the pH value and should be monitored particularly in very soft water. Nitrite is harmful to aquarium animals and is especially important when starting an aquarium, after disruption of the filter biology or when fish behave unusually. A test set combines several measurements but does not replace every specialised individual test.

Use clean test vessels, follow the specified number of drops, water volume and reaction time exactly, and compare the result under suitable lighting. Record unusual values and, where appropriate, confirm an unexpected result with a second measurement.
