EHEIM aquacompact 40

The EHEIM aquacompact 40 is a particularly compact external filter for small, open aquariums ranging from 20 to 40 liters. It combines the advantages of an internal filter with those of an external filter: The pump, with its intake, pre-filter, and outlet, is located inside the aquarium, while the filter housing hangs on the outside of the tank. This leaves more space inside the aquarium while still providing a comparatively large filter volume. Installation is simple: The aquacompact is attached directly to the aquarium glass. It is suitable for glass thicknesses of up to 6 mm. The automatic self-priming feature makes startup much easier—just plug it in, turn it on, and the filter starts operating on its own. The flow rate can be conveniently adjusted on the filter housing or stopped as needed.

For thorough filtration, the EHEIM aquacompact 40 comes fully equipped with original EHEIM filter media. The package includes a coarse filter mat, a fine filter fleece, and the biological filter medium EHEIM SUBSTRAT. The integrated pre-filter traps coarse debris, thereby protecting the pump and biological filter media. This ensures efficient mechanical and biological cleaning as well as longer intervals between maintenance.

The outflow is variably adjustable. With the included outflow fittings—including a nozzle tube, wide-jet nozzle, elbow fittings, and connectors—the water flow can be adapted to the aquarium. This allows the aquacompact 40 to provide natural surface movement and improved oxygenation even in small tanks. The filter is not only suitable for nano and small aquariums, but also works very well for breeding, quarantine, or transition tanks.
