The TECO DI 500 is a professional drop-in aquarium cooler for aquariums, aquaponics, and hydroponics systems. Unlike traditional flow-through coolers, the drop-in system does not circulate water through the unit. Instead, the cooling coil is placed directly in the waterfor example, in a filter chamber, a technical area, or a sump system. This makes installation particularly easy and eliminates the need to modify existing piping.
Cooling is provided by a titanium heat exchanger that is submerged directly in the water. Titanium is a proven material for heat exchangers in the aquarium industry due to its excellent durability. The drop-in design makes the DI 500 particularly appealing when a fast, flexible, and reliable cooling solution is neededsuch as for existing aquariums, temporary setups, or technical tanks where no additional water flow system is to be installed. It is important that the cooling coil remains fully submerged in the water at all times during operation and that there is sufficient water movement.
The TECO DI 500 features a compact design and is engineered for professional use. The unit operates with a digital thermostat for temperature control and uses the R290 refrigerant. According to the manufacturer, the cooler is designed for aquariums up to 500 liters, based on an ambient temperature of 30 °C, a water temperature of 25 °C, and a heat load of 0.2 W/L. For higher cooling requirements or lower target temperatures, the actual maximum aquarium size is correspondingly smaller.
