Overview
The Sera Ammonia Test reliably measures the total concentration of ammonium (NH4+) and ammonia (NH3) in the water. Combined with the pH value, this determines the actual ammonia content. This helps identify spikes in ammonia levels and assess the biological filter performance. The test is sufficient for approximately 60 measurements and indicates the total content of ammonium and ammonia. Using the included table, the content of toxic, free ammonia can be calculated based on the measured value and the pH value. Beneficial bacteria convert nitrogen-containing waste products into ammonium or ammonia.
