Seachem Matrix is a high porosity biomedia that provides efficient biofiltration for the removal of nitrogenous waste. Seachem Matrix is a porous inorganic solid about 10 mm in diameter. Each liter of Seachem Matrix provides as much surface (>~700 m2) as 170 liters of plastic balls! Plastic bio-materials provide only external surface area, whereas Matrix provides both external and internal macroporous surface area.

Seachem Purigen is a premium synthetic adsorbent that is unlike any other filtration product. It is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a rate and capacity that exceeds all other competing products by over 500%. Seachem de*nitrate is an economical, natural, porous material with a pore distribution and geometry that promotes both aerobic nitrification within the first few millimeters of depth and anaerobic denitrification at the core. The material has a high surface area and supports a high density of bacteria. Although Seachem de*nitrate has capacity to trap nitrate, this, as with other nitrate retaining materials, such as certain zeolites and synthetic resins, is quite limited and the primary mechanism of nitrate removal is anaerobic.

Seachem Zeolite is a highly effective filter medium for removing ammonia and other contaminants from aquarium water. It consists of natural zeolite which, due to its porous structure, effectively binds unwanted substances and thus improves water quality. Particularly suitable for freshwater aquariums, Seachem Zeolite helps reduce fish stress and promotes a healthy aquarium environment.

Seachem PhosGuard rapidly removes phosphate and silicate from marine and freshwater aquaria. It is not recommended for phosphate buffered freshwater. Seachem PhosGuard is highly porous for high capacity and bead-shaped for optimum water flow.
