Compare pack size, specified dosage and the planned hatching volume. Accurate salinity, temperature, aeration and clean equipment are all important for Artemia culture.
Special Artemia salt provides a defined salt mixture for preparing hatching water for brine-shrimp eggs. The current range includes Hobby Artemia Salt and JBL Artemio Sal. These products are intended for Artemia culture and should be dosed according to the respective instructions.
Measure the water volume accurately and follow the specified quantity of salt. Hatching success also depends on egg quality, temperature, aeration, light and hygiene; the salt alone cannot guarantee a particular hatch rate. Do not substitute an arbitrary quantity of aquarium sea salt without checking the requirements of the culture method.
Prepare fresh culture water in a clean hatching vessel and prevent contamination from old batches. After hatching, separate the nauplii from shells and culture water and rinse them as appropriate before feeding them to aquarium animals.
