Surface skimmers draw water from the aquarium surface and collect floating particles or surface film. They are available as independent powered units or as attachments for compatible filter intakes. The suitable design depends on aquarium size, water-level variation, required flow and the available installation space.

Check the intake protection when shrimp, small fish or floating plants are present. A skimmer must remain correctly positioned as the water level changes and should not draw air continuously. Models connected to a filter must match its hose or intake connection.
